Full Description
Stone, white painted with black lettering. Inscribed (north face) To Macclesfield 5m, (south face) To Chapel 6m, Sheffield 28m, Chesterfield 29m. North face weathered but south face in good condition. 1.5 miles south of Kettleshulme on Macclesfield - Kettleshulme road on east side of road (1). Milestone, c.1770. Triangular sectioned ashlar sandstone block with shaped top. One of a complete set on the Macclesfield-Whaley Bridge turnpike of 1770. This one has been moved onto the modern road side from the old turnpike which runs west of Harrop House Farm (2).
