Summary
Cast-iron milepost, painted white with black lettering. It is triangular in section and dated 1896. It is located on the northwest side of the A54 Buxton - Congleton road. It is inscribed "Cheshire County Council 1896" on the top and "Buxton 4 miles" on the one side and "Congleton 12 miles" on the other.

Full Description
N.W. side of Congleton - Buxton road (A54). Cast-iron triangular section, painted white with black lettering. Dated 1896. Inscribed on top: Cheshire County Council 1896; on left side: Buxton 4 miles; on right side: Congleton 12 miles. Fair condition. 1'6" wide and 2'6" high (1).
