Full Description
Bollard milepost. On original Buxton to Macclesfield turnpike (1759 - 1821). Cast-iron milepost painted white with black lettering. In rusty condition. Inscribed: To Buxton 5 miles, To Macclesfiled 6 3/4 miles (1) & (2). Cylindrical head on a narrower cylindrical post, with 3 panels. c.1820. One of a complete set of bollard mileposts on new Macclesfield to Buxton turnpike of 1821 (3).
