Full Description
Bollard milepost. Macclesfield to Buxton Road. Cast iron milepost on original turnpike (1759 - 1821). Painted white with black lettering. Inscribed: Macclesfield 5 3/4 miles, Buxton 6 miles, J. Harrison Ltd. Derby. Reasonable condition, beginning to rust (1). Cylindrical head on a narrower cylindircal post, with 3 panels. c.1820. One of a complete set of bollard mileposts on new Macc to Buxton turnpike of 1821 (2).
