Summary

Grade II listed Gate Piers. Made in the late 17th century but moved around 1860 to their present position. They may originally have stood at the end of avenue from the hall. They are made of ashlar buff sandstone, stand on moulded plinths and carry urns decorated with acanthus leaves.

Full Description

Gate Piers: Late C17 but moved c.1860 to present position. Perhaps originally stood at end of avenue from the hall and past the cage. Ashlar buff sandstone. Square in plan with stepped projection to each side and buttresses to rear. Standing on moulded plinths, the front faces are plain but sides have semi-circular niches. Weathered capstones carry urns decorated with acanthus leaves and containing a compact floral display (1).
