Full Description
Formerly belvedere or banqueting house, later house. C17. Rendered coursed sandstone rubble. Roof has collapsed. Square in plan. Two-storey. One bay fronts under a cross-gabled roof. All openings now blocked but windows were originally three-light, rebated, chamfered stone mullions. Interior: Shows that the first floor was the main room with a fine (but deteriorating) C17 plaster overmantel, with armorial shield, bordered by twisted foilage and pilasters (1). Similar buildings to be seen in the former formal gardens and within the park on a painting of Lyme of c.1690 (2).
