Summary

Site of Jenkin Cross, adjacent to the site of the "Jenkins" chapel. The stone was situated at the junction of three roads - Pym Chair Lane, Moss Lane and Red Moor Lane. It is called Jenkin Cross after a castle drover and sheep dealer - Jenkin from Ruthin who is said to have traded from North Wales to Derbyshire in the early 18th century. He carried out his business transactions at the cross and is said to have preached there.

Full Description

Site of Jenkin Cross, adjacent to the site of the chapel. Situated at junction of three roads - Pym Chair Lane, Moss Lane and Red Moor Lane. Called Jenkin Cross after a cattle drover and sheep dealer - Jenkin from Ruthin who is said to have traded from North Wales to Derbyshire in early C18. He carried out his business transactions at the cross and is said to have preached there (1).
