Summary

Capesthorne Hall was built in 1719 by William Smith for the Ward family to replace the old hall. It was refronted in 1837-9 by Edward Blore and rebuilt in 1862-c1868 by Anthony Salvin after a fire. Though privately owned the house and gardens are open to the public.

Capesthorne Hall built 1719, 1837-9 and 1862-c1868 by William Smith of Warwick, Edward Blore and Anthony Salvin. In 1861 the central portion was restored by Salvin. Full architectural description (1). Built for John Ward on a new site in the park (2).
