Summary

Grade II listed Church of St Stephen, Forest Chapel. It was originally built in 1673 but the nave and chancel completely rebuilt 1831. It has coursed squared sandstone rubble walls with sandstone dressings. The interior is very simple with no division between the nave and chancel.

Full Description

Church of St Stephen, Forest Chapel. Origins dated 1673 but nave and chancel completely rebuilt 1831. Coursed squared sandstone rubble, sandstone dressings. Stone-slate roof and stone ridge. Nave and chancel in one range of five bays. Porch on south side of nave is gabled and entrance has a rusticated cambered head, the keystone having the date of rebuilding and the original stone reading SS 1673 above. Low three-stage west tower with saddleback roof of heavy flags. Interior: very simple with no division between nave and chancel. Full architectural description (1).
