Full Description
Charles Head Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17 but C18 and major C20 alterations. Coursed buff sandstone blocks. Stone-slate roof, stone ridge and two stone chimneys. L-shaped plan. Two-storey, three-bay north front. End bays have C20 windows. Rear has square-sectioned mullion with dovecote above. Interior: Three-room plan. Parlour has ovolo-moulded ceiling beams and fireplace with bead moulded heavy stone lintel. Remains of oven to rear of fireplace. Some chamfered beams upstairs. Date of 1591 reportedly found in repairing other fireplace (1).
