Full Description
Clayton Fold House, Stocks Lane. Farmhouse dated 1629 but some years earlier, with C19 and C20 alterations. Coursed, squared, buff, sandstone rubble. Stone-slate roof, stone ridge and two stone chimneys. Two-storey, three-bay front. Central bay has ovolo-moulded and sash windows and door under chamfered wooden lintel. Above is copper plaque in moulded stone surround, with dated inscription. Eaves have projecting stones supporting remains of wooden guttering. Interor: Two rooms and a lobby. Main room has ovolo-moulded beam and ovolo-moulded lintels to rear of windows (1).
