Full Description
Shrigleyfold Farmhouse, Shrigley Fold Road. Mid C17 with mid C19 alterations. White-washed coursed squared buff sandstone rubble with stone and brick dressings. Slate roof and four brick chimneys. Three-storey, four-bay front. Windows are horned sashes in rough brick reveals, some with chamfered stone heads. Massive C17 chamfered stone doorcase. Flat stone- coped gables and kneelers. Interior: All partition walls have timber small-framing with plastered infill. Lower storey ceiling beams are chamfered with flat stops. Dogleg staircase. Front was originally twin-gabled. John Wesley stayed and preached here when he first came to Macclesfield in 1745 (1).
