Farmhouse, seventeenth century, altered eighteenth century and late twentieth century, of brick with rendered front and Kerridge stone-slate roof with gable chimneys of brick. Some stonework and stone quions in rear wall. A symmetrical front of two storeys and two windows. Attic windows in end gables. Late twentieth century door. Interior two chamfered oak beams in parlour. Open-well seventeenth century stair to first and second floors with shaped newels and moulded square rail; late twentieth century balusters. Good arch-braced oak truss in attic.

First documentary reference to Hawkslee (Haukeslee) dates from 1286 with further references in 1347 (Haukeslegh), 1516 (Hawkyslee), 1547 (Hawkesleghley) and 1580 (Hawksley).
