Summary

A farmstead dating from the late seventeenth century. The farmhouse, a grade II listed building, bears a date stone with the date 1691. To the south-west of the house are two farm buildings.

Full Description

Farmhouse converted to house. Dated 1691 on datestone with characters in relief H Restored in twentieth century. I+E 1691 Rubble with ashlar dressings. Two storeys. Entrance front: Gable end to right with first floor C17 window of 4 chamfered, mullioned lights upon which the replacement twentieth century windows are based. Similar window to ground floor right and two and three-light bays at left with hood moulds to ground floor windows. Projecting wing at left with three-light chamfered mullioned window to ground and first floors. Porch to right hand reveal of this projection with four-centred arch and rectangular datestone over. Interior: Ground floor ceiling beams have ovolo mouldings to either side with central fillet moulding.

Fox Bank is labelled on this map, but the only building depicted is to the east of Hollin Lane, at the approximate location of Lowerhouse.

This map depicts the farmhouse with two farm buildings to the south-west. A further smaller building is depicted to the north of the house in the adjacent field. Labelled Foxbank.

This map depicts a small extension on the south-eastern side of the larger of the two farm buildings. The also appears to be depicting internal subdivisions within both farm buildings.
