Summary

Grade II listed farmhouse. Built in the 17th century with major 19th century rebuild and some 20th century alterations. It is brick on a sandstone plinth with sandstone quoins (cornerstone). It has a three-gabled east front of which only right gable is of original fabric. In the remainder, much of the plinth survives, but the brickwork ahs been replaced and there is some Victorian Timber framing in the gables. The farmhouse is on the site of a grange of the Abbey of Dieulacres, Leek, Staffordshire. A Grange is an area of monastic land managed by laymen, that lie outside the Abbey's main land holdings.

Full Description

Monksheath Hall, Chelford Road. Farmhouse, 17th century with major mid-late 19th century rebuild and some 20th century alterations. Brick on sandstone plinth with sandstone quoins. Stone-slate roof. Three-gabled east front of which only right gable is of original fabric. This has a blocked chamfered wooden mullion window. In remainder, much of the plinth survives, but brickwork replaced and some Victorian timber framing in the gables. The farmhouse is on the site of a grange of the Abbey of Dieulacres, Leek, Staffordshire. Full architectural description (1).
