Summary

Grade II listed farmhouse. It is dated 1600 but the front is probably a late 17th or 19th century alteration. It is brick built on a rubble plinth with a stone slate roof. It was originally the cross wing of a larger house.

Yew Tree Cottage, Alderley Road. Farmhouse: dated 1600 but fabric probably late C17, C19 alteration. Washed and rendered brick on a rubble plinth. Coursed squared buff sandstone rubble, Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and 2 brick chimneys. Formerly cross wing of larger house. 2-storey, l-bay front. Raised bands at 1st and 2nd floors. 6-light chamfered stone-mullioned window below under a pair of irregular segmental relieving arches. Above is a similar 4-light window and a plaque reading JRS 1600. Right end has a mixture of 2 and 3-light horizontal sliding sashes and a half-glazed late C19 door under a cambered head. Interior: Chamfered ceiling beams rest on chamfered posts in brick partition walls.
