Summary

A grade II listed former farmhouse dated 1634 with nineteenth and twentieth century alterations. Built of sandstone with a stone slate roof and three brick chimneys. The house has an H-plan and inside is a plaque dated 'JMV 1634'.

Formerly farmhouse, now house: dated 1634 with nineteenth and twentieth century alterations. Ashlar buff sandstone, Kerridge stone-slate roof and three brick chimneys. H-plan house with door into the hall. Two-storey, four-bay front. Chamfered plinth with a projecting moulded bond at the first floor. End bays step forward slightly and have nineteenth century tall broad three-light stone mullions below and casements in now stuccoed but originally timber framed gables. Right bay has plaque in moulded surround at first floor reading E*M IxF. To left of centre is a seven-light rebated chamfered stone mullioned and transomed window and to right a double rebated doorcase with twentieth century six-panelled door. Above is a two-light casement in a gabled half dormer. Another plaque on the first floor band reads JMV 1634 with a star and double crosses. Some brick extensions to the rear.

This map depicts the house sub-divided into two properties described as cottages and gardens occupied by William Chadwick and Peter Booth.
