Full Description
Farmhouse. Early C17 core encased early C19. Interior timber framed. Exterior brick, Welsh slate roof. Two storeys and three bays. Casement window. Brick end stacks and one on ridge to right of centre. Interior has two pairs of full crucks from oiginal three cell house. Those to left are roughly ogee-shaped with collar and post to support ridge; confused framing within. The other pair are infilled by framing and brickwork and back inserted brick stack. Bressumer of earlier smoke-hood survives. An oak two-light mullioned window has been re-used. Gable ends probably cruck-framed originally. Plan probably baffle-entry originally. House is well documented, with John Barrow recorded as having paid Hearth Tax on one chimney in 1664/6 (1).
