Summary

The site of Marton Mill, mill pond and the associated leats. The mill is depicted on early to mid nineteenth century and late eighteenth century maps. There are also documentary references to the mill dating back to the early fourteenth century. The mill buildings were demolished in the late nineteenth century, but earthworks associated with the mill pond, dam and mill races survive. Below ground archaeological remains associated with the medieval and later mills are expected to survive.

Marton mill: immediately south of Marton Hall. Nothing remains of the watermill. Documentary reference to to the mill dating from 1307 (see 2).

This map depicts the mill pond to the north of Marton Hall Lane and the mill buildings to the immediate south. This suggests that the lane runs along the top of the mill dam. The award also records a stackyard.

Depicts three buildings to the south of Marton Hall Lane; the largest is presumably the mill. The mill pond lies to the north. The mill is labelled corn.
