Full Description

A Bronze Age perforated stone axe-hammer was found in November 1959, in a potato field at Old Withington. It was identified by the Grosvenor & was referred to Birmingham University for petrological identification. Axe-hammer returned to finder (1) Still in his possession in 1964. NB site of axe incorrectly plotted on OS 1:10,000 map at SJ 8255 7284 (2).
