Summary

The placename Pavement Lane suggests a possible Roman road. It is probably part of the Middlewich to Manchester road which was discovered to the immediate north east during excavations at Manchester Airport in the 1990s.

Full Description

Pavement Lane 1672 and 'the paved lane' 1831. This placeneme has been interpreted as indicating a Roman road (1). Probable continuation of the road identified during excavations at Manchester Airport to the immediate north east and Margary route 700 (Nantwich-Middlewich-Peover) to the south west (3 & 4).
