Full Description
Site of moat. The Old Hall was one of 3 capital messuages in Fulshaw (one other being Fulshaw Hall RN:1475/1). The Legh family possessed the Old Hall, which according to tradition stood in the Blackfield. In 1413 William Scorgell released to Robert, son of Robert de Legh 'all his right and claim in one messuage called the Hall of Fulshaw, and certain fields, the Blackfield, the Dufhouseflatts etc'. In 1877 there were still traces of the moat and some 'pavements and large stones' had been uncovered. The name of Old Hall Crofts was given to a piece of land nearby (1). The area is now covere by a housing estate (2).
