Full Description

A section of Roman wall, possibly a stylobate foundation for a colonnade, was recorded during redevelopment to the rear of No 24 & 26 Bridge Street (then the premises of Mr Marston). The wall was described as c1.06m thick with a step-like finish reminiscent of a stylobate finish along the top and appeared to face east. The wall was recorded approximately 12m to the west of the street frontage but was destroyed during the redevelopment work (1)
