Full Description
Possible Saxon Chapel. A Saxon manor as important as Macclesfield would have been expected to have had a chapel and a document of between 1240- 1257 reserves rent of land in Macclesfield to the Chapel of St Mary and a charter in the British Museum records a St Mary's Place in Chestergate (1).
