Full Description

Dark brown flint axe of Scandinavian type with expanding blade and butt. 5ins long x 0.5ins thick, max width at blade 2.75ins (1). Found c. 1900 when tree planting below Cage Hill in Lyme Park. The axe has a splayed edge which has been polished. It remains in the hands of the finder's widow (2). Illustrated (4).
