Full Description
Birtles Mill. A 3-storey brick building with a 2-storey extension containing the drying kiln and store. Part of the principal roof has collapsed and generally the building is derelict and in parts dangerous. The overshot wheel is 14ft in diam x 5ft 3ins wide and is in good condition considering the general state of the mill. The wheel pit is of the spur gear type. The kiln is derelict and the floor mainly collapsed (1). The mill has been restored and converted into a house (2).
