Full Description
The westernmost pool, in the line of five pools to the north of Gawsworth Old Hall. It is now dry but was originally an average of 4m deep, with a dam 30m wide at the base to 8m wide at the top (1). For details see RN: 1332/2/3.
The fifth pool was drained in the late 18th century. It was repaired in the 1950s, but has not held water since. The Gardens and pools at Gawsworth Hall are a Scheduled Ancient Monument (2).
