Summary

Grade II* listed small manor house. Built in the late 16th / early 17th century with alterations dated 1764. The walls are coursed squared buff sandstone rubble with pine sandstone quoins (cornerstones). It has a stone-slate roof, stone ridge and three stone chimneys. It is a rectangular lobby-entry house and is two-storeys high. The gabled porch has RP (Robert Pott) and 1764 carved above.

Full Description

Charles Head House. Small manor house. Late C16/early C17 with alterations dated 1764. Coursed squared buff sandstone rubble with pine sandstone quoins. Stone-slate roof, stone ridge and three stone chimneys. Rectangular lobby-entry house. Two-storey, four-bay front. Windows are square-sectioned stone mullions. Gabled porch has RP (Robert Pott) and 1764 carved above. Behind is original chamfered doorcase and four-board door. Interior: Has lost oak baffle. Exposed ceiling beams. Windows have mullions chamfered behind mid C18 panelled window seats. Fireplace in grey sandstone. To rear is dogleg stairase with turned column balusters (1).
