Summary

Grade II listed former farmhouse, now house. It is early 17th century with an addition dated 1690 and 20th century alterations. The walls are coursed squared buff sandstone rubble and there is a stone-slate roof, stone ridge and three stone chimneys. It is T-shaped in plan and two-storeys high. Inside there are timber framed partition walls and a dogleg 17th century staircase.

The Old Hall, Sugar Lane. Formerly farmhouse, now house. Early C17 with addition dated 1690 and C20 alterations. Coursed squared buff sandstone rubble. Stone-slate roof, stone ridge and three stone chimneys. T-shaped in plan. Two-storey, three-bay south front. Some stone mullions under hood moulds, some C20 windows under hood moulds. Left end bay has a heavy door lintel with FES (for Francis Stevenson) 1690 carved on it. (A C20 copy taken from the original rawhead). Good rawhead is 1930 copy of the original, but some original decorated lead guttering. Interior: Timber framed partition walls. Dogleg C17 staircase. Six-panelled doors. Roof structure has two trusses of tiebeam, two diagonal struts and a collar. Two chamfered beams in main room with plain stops (1).
