Full Description
No.l Moss Brow (The Corner Shop). Formerly house, now house and shop. C17 core, rawhead dated 1721 and mid C19 alterations. Coursed, squared buff sandstone rubble, sandstone dressings, stone slate roof, stone ridge and one brick and one stone chimney. Two-storey, three-bay south front. End bays have wooden casements under hood moulds below and stone- coped gabled half dormers. Central bay has similar windows, under a hood mould below. This front is a C19 alteration, but has a rawhead inscribed RMW 1721. Interior: C17 dog-leg staircase wiuth serpentine flat balusters and square newels and some re-used wooden panelling in the stairwell. A tall two-light chamfered stone mullion lights stair (1).
