Full Description
No.9 Bollington Road (Barley Grange). Formerly farmhouse and farmbuilding, now house. Early C17 core, later C17 addition to left, later C18 alterations, major additions late C19. Coursed buff sandstone with sandstone dressings. Stone-slate roof and four stone chimneys. 2.5 storeys, six-bay front. Two bays to left have a tall, chamfered stone mullioned window with lattice-leaded lights, with C19 mullioned window above. Central three bays have a mixture of wooden casements and sashes. To right is a three-storey canted bay window. To left is C19 lean-to stable and former steam driven eletric generator house. Interior: Original core has small timber-framed walls with lathe and plaster infill. Chamfered ceiling beams, two roof trusses of tiebeams and two queen posts to collar (1).
