Full Description
Sandstone anvil-stone. A disc of hard pale-brown sandstone with the periphery trimmed by flaking and the central area on both faces bruised and pitted from use as an anvil stone. The stone measures 3.4 x 3.6 ins and is 1.4 ins thick. It was found in Nether Alderley School, Chelford in 1933. Flint chippings are occasionally found in the same garden (1). School House Garden is centred at SJ 84377661. Exact find-spot nor present whereabouts of the stone could be ascertained (2).
