Summary

Grade II listed farmhouse and farmbuildings, later converted to seven mill workers' cottages. They are 17th century with an addition at the east end dated 1721 and late 18th century alterations to the cottages. They are largely timber framed on a stone plinth, with additions at either end and the roof has been raised in wasted brick. It has a welsh slate and stone-slate roof. The five bays to the right are the old farmhouse.

Full Description

Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 Shaws Fold, Holt's Lane, Styal. Formerly farmhouse and farmbuildings, later converted to seven mill workers' cottages. C17 additon at east end dated 1721, late C18 alterations to cottages. Largely timber framed on stone plinth, with additions at either end and raising of roof in wasted brick. Welsh slate and stone-slate roof. Long rectangular plan. 15-bay north front. Left four bays in brick. Remainder in small timber framing with some angle bracing, but central six bays have raised roof in brick. Five bays at right are the former farmhouse. East gable has date plague reading HTJ 1721.
