House. Seventeenth century with nineteenth and twentieth century additions. Sandstone and whitewashed brick with slate roof. Three cell two-storey plan with through hall. Entrance front: Stone ground floor with three brick gables to first floor, string course and stone corbels. Front door to left of centre with massive splayed lintel. Three three-light mullioned casement windows to ground floor, two at right having twentieth century stone surrounds. Three three-light mullioned casement windows to first floor with splayed heads. Ridge beam and purlin ends exposed at gables. Chimney stack at extreme right hand side. Rear elevation: Doorway to right of centre on line with front door and having similar massive splayed lintel. Chimney stack to left with off-sets to sides. One twentieth century new brick flue at top but originally having two. Nineteenth and twentieth century extensions to left and right. Interior: Chamfered beams to ground floor ceilings. Large lintel to fireplace in parlour. Stone walls showing on interior ground floor with small framing for dividing walls. Roof truss of tie beam, king post and arch braces with wind-bracing.

A high-status late sixteenth or early seventeenth century house located on a sand island in the middle of Lindow Moss. Built of fine ashlar in a medieval H-shape rationalized to a flat front, mullioned windows and a large chimney stack to the rear. The gables are of brick (presumably replacing timber). There is a screens passage, but no sign that there was ever an open hall.
