Full Description
Holly Bank, formerly Doctor's House), Barton Rd.House, late C17, alt, prob mainly mid C18. Stone-dressed brown brick grey slate roofs. Entrance front (C18) of 3 storeys & 3 windows symmetrical in form. Projecting stone bands 1st & 2nd flrs, rusticated stone quoins, cyma stone cornice. Stone plinth with cap (moulded) has 2 former window openings to cellar, left of prob late C19 gabled brick porch. Lower 2 storeys irregular bond, upper storey in imperfect Flemish bond. Flush sash windows, stone cills. Rt corner prob C17 roof shows, offset, behind facade. Int:2 & 3 panel oak doors. Cellar has stone & bedrock walls & reused slotted chamfered beam. Front parlour has altered inglenook & roughly chamfered oak main beam; rear left room has stop-chamfered beam system & oak panelling with 5 dates from 1724-1771. Diagonal fireplace with hollow corbel for hearth above. Rear right room has roughly chamfered beams. Kitchen has ceiling frame with 2 roughly chamfered beams & C17 moulded beam. C17 moulded oak bressumer across corner of outhouse behind kitchen. Bar-stopped chamfered oak beam in front bedroom. Oak purlins. Full architectural description (1).
