Summary

Grade II listed early 17th century building with with later additions and modern restoration. It is timber framed with brick nogging and has been cement rendered and whitened. The original structure was a single room on the ground floor with two above. The restoration revealed wattle and daub in timber frame still visible in upstairs room. This part of the house was probably 16th century or earlier. There is also evidence of the house being built on the site of a previous one. There is a associated Barn of red sandstone with a slate roof with clay tile ridge.

Early C17 with later addition& modern restoration.Timber framed with brick nogging,now cement rendered & whitened,2 storey plus attic.2 modern wood casement windows with leaded lights,generally in keeping & replacing earlier casements.Altered entrance.2 storey wing to east.1697,2 storey plus attic,1 window,red brick& sandstone gabled addition projects on left side, having stone quoins & plinth, stone copings & gorbels to gable with 2 monolithic oval openings,& square tablet inscribed W J E (John & Ellen Wilson ) 1697.Six-light mullioned & transomed windows to 1st storey.Interior:early C17 wide inglenook fireplace with beam over opening & open hearth in place of earlier range,old ceiling timbers & other early features.

Remains of barn being support building to seventeenth century stone dressed brick building dated 1697. Red sandstone rough coursed ashlar under small slate roof with clay tile ridge. No openings to road or to gable facing listed building. End of building nearest to Willaston greatly reduced in length. Side of building nearest to Willaston now has a modern door and windows. Some damage at roof and party wall in area from which part of the building has been removed.

Farmhouse, now dwelling. Early C17 with cross wing dated 1697 and with later alterations. Rendered brick nogged timber-frame and stone dressed brickwork with slate roof and stone copings with kneelers; stone stack. EXTERIOR: the earlier timber-framed section is single storeyed with an attic, of 2 bays with a single bay wing at the rear. The added brick section has 2 storey and attic, 1 bay. Cross wing has stone plinth. Large framing in lightweight timbers with small arch braces. The apparent medieval appearance of the facade is not confirmed by the interior fabric. Softwood flush leaded casements in pairs. The single attic window set within gabled half dormer. The cross wing has flush stone quoins. Projecting brick bands over first and second floor window heads, that at second floor with dentil feature. Two elliptical openings in gable surmounted by square tablet inscribed `I. W.E.' and the date. 3-light ogee stone mullion window ground floor and mullion and transom first floor, both with rectangular leaded glazing. INTERIOR: in timber-framed section an inglenook carved firebeam. Two carved principal rafter trusses in rear wing, which is single storey. Exposed ceiling beams and joists. Cottage staircase. In cross wing, exposed beams and joists at first and second floor level, exposed purlins.
