Full Description

Tombstone found in 1861 when a small portion of the churchyard on the south side of the Cathedral (near its south-east corner) was cut into, to make a passage and flight of steps from the new Corn Exchange to the City Walls. Tombstone was of the 'banquet' type dedicated to Fesonia Severiana (1)-(3).

It cannot have been found in situ, so the most likely explanation for its appearance within the fortress is that it was robbed from a Roman cemetery for re-use as building stone.
