Summary

Grade II listed brown brick farmhouse built in the 17th century with later alterations and additions including a later wing that is Church Cottage. A stone on gable inscribed AD 1670. The farmhouse is the oldest major brick building in Burton Village and the cottage possesses good cruck blades with mutilated collars. Crucks are beams used in timber framing. Two curved timbers that are cut from the same tree, are used to support a roof, from floor to apex.

Full Description

1670 with later alterations and additions. Brown brick farmhouse, part with sandstone plinth. Two storeys, plus attic. Two windows with later one window wing (wing is Church Cottage). Toothed band at first floor andband at second floor. Sandstone copings and corbels at gable to west. Slate roof. Near flush frame windows, with small panes. Six panelled entrance door. Stone on gable inscribed AD 1670. Interior: beams (1). Farmhouse is the oldest major brick building in Burton Vilage. Cottage possesses good cruck blades with mutilated collars (2).
