Summary

Grade II listed early 17th century red sandstone thatched cottage. It consists of one storey, plus attic. It was the birthplace and residence of Bishop Wilson (consecrated 1697). He was the founder of village school. The interior contains old timbers and crucks. A Cruck is a beam used in timber framing. Two curved timbers that are cut from the same tree, used to support a roof, from floor to apex.

Full Description

Early C17. Red sandstone thatched cottage. One storey, plus attic. Flush frame casement windows with leaded lights, four sliding sashes. Altered outbuilding on left. Birthplace and residence of Bishop Wilson (consecrated 1697). Founder of village school (1). Contains old timbers and crucks. Illustrations (2).
