‘Excavation at Murdishaw Woods (Preston Brook). Revealed sandstone chips and small pebbles rammed into yellow/orange clay. Width cannot be determined due to growth of woodland trees. Prior to and opposite [a] modern Busway a hollow track falls on line. This narrows to ford a brook on opposite side, runs two metres and is buried beneath [the] M56 embankment. Line continued on opposite side of [the] M56 is destroyed by [a] housing estate.’
