Summary
In November 1884, Warrington newspapers described a road found at "Big Pool", Runcorn, 18 inches below surface, dipping to 4ft towards pool. Proved 10ft wide and paved with boulders. Pointing towards Weston but buried by Bridgewater Canal embankment. The Newspapers conclude it to be Roman.

Full Description
In November 1884, Warrington newspapers described a road found at "Big Pool", Runcorn, 18 inches below surface, dipping to 4ft towards pool. Proved 10ft wide and paved with boulders. Pointing towards Weston but buried by Bridgewater Canal embankment. Papers conclude it to be Roman, Watkin later (1).
