A tannery building with twenty one rectangular pits of varying sizes outside are shown on a map dating from 1851.

The building is depicted, but no pits are shown.

This area is depicted as gardens.

Sources (2) and (3) suggest that the tannery was only in operation for a short time. The area is now part of Wyche County Primary School.

Roman coins were discovered (CHER 177/0/2) during the infilling of pits at the tannery in, or about, 1849.
