Summary

A manor house of Newbold is mentioned as enlarged in 1349. RAF aerial photographs show a sub rectangular cropmark and a Tithe Award gives field name 'Moats' centred on the given grid refernce. However a field visit in 1964 found no trace of the site.

Hall states 'in a field opposite Shrewbridge is a mound and moat'. Suggests this might be site of manor house of Newbold, mentioned as enlarged in 1349. Edleston Tithe Award gives field name 'Moats' centred on given NGR. 1947 vertical A/P shows sub rectangular cropmark at SJ 6470 5117, but field visit in 1964 found no trace of the site.
