Full Description

Silver Anglo-Saxon pin found with a metal detector in a river bank near Egerton Hall. Found protruding from the bank of the river, not far from a sharp bend in the river. There are traces of worked timbers in the river bank not far from the find spot. Pin has a flat sub-triangular head with incised decoration on one side. The shaft has a square section. The decoration is composed of 5 elements, 2 similar circular elements with tripartite lobes, 2 similar 'ears' projecting from the corners, and an asymmetrical interlace filling the central triangular space. 58mm long x 12mm wide.
