Full Description
A new salt works constructed by Viscount Cholmondeley in 1793 on Shrewbridge meadow; west of the river and outside Nantwich township. It seems likely that the works closed due to flooding in the early 19th century. A detailed account book for 1793 - 179 ? (250pp) and several leases are in the Cholmondeley papers (1).
