An historic building survey was undertaken in 1991 for Yewtree Farmhouse, it concludes that the earliest surviving evidence indicates that it is a one and a half storey, timber-framed wing, probably of a hall and cross-wing house, dating to the mid to late 16th century. The wing comprised two bays of unequal size provideing two unheated chambers on both floors. The original hall range was to the east of the wing but its extent is unclear due to later re-building. The only fragments of the hall to survive are found in the north wall of the present brick range adjoining the wing. In the 17th century a stack was built into the north bay of the wing and a lobby entrance created by the insertion of a door through the east wall. It is unclear if the hall still existed at this time, however, the fact that a timber-framed lean to pantry was built in the northern re-entrant angle between the hall and wing probably indicateds that at least the upper end of the hall was in use during this period. Circa 1800, a three-storyed brick range was built in the position of the original hall. This range is entered by a door in the north wall and consists of a kitchen, pantry and stairs. The first and second floor each comprise two bedrooms.
