Full Description
No trace of the Roman West Gate has yet been discovered although it is believed to lie, at least in part, underneath the present Holy Trinity Church on Watergate Street. Whilst no structure belonging to the gate has been recorded, the known positions of the interval towers to north and south permit a rough calculation of the width of the gate (including towers) at c.25m (1).
