St Bertoline's Church. A priest is mentioned in Domesday and the dedication implies a late Saxon origin

The earliest fabric is a C12 doorway in north wall. Present church has four- bay nave, side aisles, west tower in Perpendicular style and chancel added in 1925. Interior has good oak ceilings and Perpendicular parclose screen. Crewe Chapel contains recument effigies of C14 and C16 date

St Bertoline is a rare dedication. The Anglo-Saxon saint is associated with Ilam, Staffordshire. The oldest relic is a Norman Doorway. See source for detailed description of the church.
