Full Description
Parish Church, circa 1343, remodelled c.1527 by Sir Ralph Egerton. Restoration 1863 and 1950 following bomb damage. Red sandstone. Nave, aisles, two-bay chancel and aisled chapel, west tower. Some Decorated features but remainder Late Perpendicular in style. Full exterior descriptions (1) & (2). Interior has six-bay nave arcade on slender piers. Dated, inscribed and painted stone chancel chapel screen of 1527, has 12 ogee headed openings. Linenfold panelling in oak doors. Collection of medieval cross slabs and defaced effigies in north aisle. Later fittings described (1) & (2).
