A hermit is recorded in Wybunbury in 1424. At that date, William Heyworth, bishop of Coventry and Lichfield is known to have leased two gardens to Nicholas Baker, the hermit of Wybunbury, for 99 years on condition that thay should be held by fit priests or honest hermits.

A hermit is recorded in Wybunbury in 1424. At that date, William Heyworth, bishop of Coventry and Lichfield leased two gardens to Nicholas Baker, the hermit of Wybunbury, for 99 years on condition that thay should be held by fit priests or honest hermits (1).
